Created own comic or manga

Many people like watching & reading anime & manga so I was wondering if any of you tried your hand to creating your own story? From start to finish. If so, how did you come up with ideas?

I would love to, but I can't draw to save my life.

I haven't ever created a manga or comic, unfortunately (I can't draw to save my life, I'm afraid). However, I am a writer that has had illustrations made for his characters prior. I think they'd make a good graphic novel series someday.

I'm not putting my effort into drawing well enough for comics. There are so many techniques to make things pop that I could do with digital media before printing, but then I would have to keep a consistent style and look, which it's hard enough as it is just to keep one character a certain way you know?
