Customize Color from the start and always customizable

If it's one draw back for systems and handhelds alike that game companies seem to limit color choice from the very start and add more over time.

Why don't game companies make it possible to get any color from the start? And then make it so that any color can be added or some special game related skin later on?

I feel game system purchases would surge for the first company to do this.

Technically you can, it's just a little complicated. You need to take off the shell, and put on a new one. Little annoying, but it's worth it.

Also if you are talking about customizing the color on their website, this would add to the production cost, etc. since all the systems will be different.

just color of the casing. I say you should be able to take it to any gamestore and by paying a few dollars have it changed to something else. Sucks buying it and then some cool looking skin comes out.

Well that's what I did for my DS Lite. Well, one of my Lite's. There was a sick DBZ shell, so I replaced my White one with that.

I guess console companies feel that they can sell a boring colour to start off with and then people might buy a new one when a new colour is released. £££!
