Robert and Rebecca Rodriguez's female-fronted reboot of Zorro is now in development at The CW.
the project, which was in development for NBC, is now heading to The CW with Sean Tratta taking the role of showrunner. The new Zorro was first announced in December 2020 with actor Sofia Vergara onboard as an executive producer; she has since left the project. Written by the Rodriguez siblings and directed by Rebecca, the series will be a contemporary reimagining of the Western character that will follow "a young Latinx woman seeking vengeance for her father’s murder" who "joins a secret society and adopts the outlaw persona of Zorro."
