DELL WILL CELEBRATE its 30th year in the PC business on Saturday, marking the third decade since PC system builder Michael Dell founded the company.
Starting the firm at the age of 19, Michael Dell spotted a business opportunity as a student, starting something that grew into the multi-billion dollar information technology (IT) company it is today.
I read on a blog post that Dell started when Micheal Dell decided to build PC from PC parts which he bought himself, and he latter sold them for a cheaper price than big name PC brands. I think generally building your own PC will have better quality than most PC from big brand PC like Dell, HP, and Compaq.
The quality of Dell PC is not really good these days, but a lot of PC brands have quality problems because they are all made in the same Chinese and Asian factories like Foxconn which also make most of the game consoles, and other electronics.
I think Dell would still be around in 10 years since there are still a lot of old people who only know of a few computer brands like Dell, Apple, and HP which are popular in the US and Canada.
I still see a lot of banks, schools, library and grocery stores using Dell computer and monitors. I think the people and companies buying Dells are not very tech savvy, and just buy the Dell PC they see on TV, internet and newspaper ads even if the Dell computer is over priced, and slower than computers made by other brands.
