Tonight at Sony's E3 conference, they showed cased a good amount of Destiny footage and news which might be the most expensive game to date.
Some info that was dropped is that the Beta will be available and go live in July 17. But no gamer can really wait that long and so this weekend only you can play the Alpha version of the game. You can do that by going here.
Those without a PS4 so far can help themselves to the Destiny bundle when the game comes out.
But then I remember that it's always online* and anger quickly replaces any excitement.
*Want to play single player? Need to still be connected. You apparently cannot play this game offline. And this angers me because they have learned NOTHING for every other time companies have tried always online.
I mean who remembers the issues they had with:
- Simcity (PC),
- Diablo 3 (PC),
- Arkham Asylum (PC),
- Assassin's Creed 2 (PC).
Every one of them had some kind of always on requirement and each of them made the game nigh unplayable for basically the first two-three weeks. The fact is that always online does. not. work.
If we do not learn from these mistakes, we are doomed to repeat them.
I am going to have to wait and see. If you ask me the game is nothing but a money grab riding on the Bungie name. The game was designed from day one to extract as much money they can out of the gamer. I am willing to bet that theres going to be all kinds of road blocks that you can bypass for a price.
