sourceActivision has announced Destiny pulled in more than $325 million worldwide in its first five days, making it the best-selling new video game franchise of all time.
Players have so far logged more than 100 million hours of online play by the end of the game's first week, with 137 million activities taking place. Earlier this week it was confirmed the game was the biggest launch of a new gaming franchise to ever happen in the UK, so it's not too surprising to see the game continue its roll.
What's interesting, however, is the fact that no solid sales numbers were revealed. Earlier this year Ubisoft revealed Watch Dogs was the "best-selling new IP in video game history" after it managed to move four million copies in a week. It's unclear whether Activision's decision to remain quiet on this front means anything.
All we know for certain is what Media Create tells us about the Japanese numbers (via Gematsu), where the title sold 140,780 copies on Sony consoles. In Japan, Destiny is a PlayStation-exclusive.
I will have to get this soon.
