I know that that it's the truth but I keep forgetting my anti-glare glasses.
I really should start using them.....well, I hope we can make devices which are completely good for our eyes.

I know my eye floaters stem from so many gaming days sitting really close to our old 32 inch tube top tv. *Sighs*

Staring at a smartphone and TV for too long can be bad for your eyes, but I feel some people can stare at TV and smartphones for longer amounts of time without eye problems in the future. Some people in the past watch many hours of TVs per day, and their eye sight is still pretty good after many years.

I see
I use my phone a lot and I am worried about my eyesight but I can't stop myself from using it too much

I work as IT engineer for 11 year, I play game for 20 year, I use internet for 18 year, and I still have no glasses, and my eyes is well functioning.
So if good care is taken, eye sight can become no issue.

I feel the light from the sun, bright lights like bright car headlights and street lights, and very bright lasers may also harm people's eye sight more than smartphones where you can adjust the brightness and contrast to be not as bright.

In a way, smartphones maybe saving some people's eyesight because people can look at pictures of the sun, bright car headlights, and bright lasers instead of looking at the real sun, and other very bright light sources which can damage your eyesight if the light is very bright or gives off uv radiation like the sun.

I saw a few news stories of people suffering eye damage because they looked at the sun, solar eclipse where the moon's shadow block the sun, and someone shined a laser pointer in their eye of an airplane pilot which caused vision damage.

That's an interesting way of looking at things. Still they are not good for eyes.
I wish I could somehow stop myself from using smartphone too much but that's a lost cause.

Yeah that's a concern, I use my phone in bed at night to catch up on youtube videos and it starts hurting my eyes after a bit. We need to be careful in using devices and make sure to use it in a well lit environment. I have stopped/reduced this habit for a while.

It can be a good idea to schedule on when to use your smartphone, and use a timer app to remind you to take a break like reading a book where it is also not a good idea to read a book for many hours per day without taking a break.

I have a habit of losing track of time when I am reading a book. Unlike anime, it doesn't have any timer. Well, every episode is about 20-24 minutes. Oh well, I like reading books in my smartphone and it does have a timer but too bad that I switch between apps and never gives it enough chance to pull that timer thing xD

There is a Russian smartphone which uses an E-ink display which makes it good for reading since it looks more similar to printer than a regular LCD screen found in most smartphones.

I think E-ink screens are still one of the best ways to read text on a screen for many hours.

I have never heard of E-ink screens.
If they are not like a regular LCD screen, then they might be good for our eyes when compared to regular smartphones.
Do you know any E-ink phones?

I think the LCD screen is not as damaging for people's eyes. But, the LED or florescent bulb backlight on the back of the screen maybe bad for people's eyes.Non-backlit Color LCD screens have existed for many years like the Nintendo Gameboy Advance, and Gameboy color, and there were not many reports of them causing eye problems.

The Yotaphone has an E-ink display on the back of the phone.

I believe the same thing. I think you can still maintain a good eyesight if you take care of your eyes. Looking at computer screen is part of a lot of people's working environment these days.

Some newer computer screens are less harmful for your eyes because they have night mode and an eye saver mode which make the computer not as harmful for your eyes by using darker colors.

But, you should still take breaks from using a PC monitor after 30 minutes.
