A payphone style cell phone would be useful if there where cell phone plans where you just connect it to your Paypal or bank account, and use it to make calls for 25-50 cents per call instead of paying 10 dollars or more a month for prepaid cards which expire after a month if you don't refill your phone with a new card.

It would be useful for people who just use their phones for emergencies like calling a Tow truck to tow away their broken car, or a taxi to pick them up if the subway, and bus is not running.

I'm not a big cell phone person, I keep it around for some minor texting and to keep on hand when I travel to far from home (like going to school.). So I would enjoy having a phone like this.
