I was just zipping about in Mario Party 9, as you do, and it got me thinking. Here we have Mario, doing everything, and yet there are all these other Nintendo series that only rely on one, two or three main styles of play.
For Metroid, it's been either 3D, or 2D. We recently got a mixture of both, which shows the series is getting some new stuff, but it really makes you think what else can change with this game. I mean, it is just running around and zapping things dead; it's a fun concept that shouldn't be tinkered around with much.
But do you think we've seen pretty much everywhere that said series could go? (That being, the 2D side scroller, 3D FPS/action adventure, and 2.5D side scroller with FPS elements). Is it possible for this series to go anywhere else, without going down the track of strange spin-offs, like Metroid Prime Pinball? (Though I guess pinball is kinda fun).
