If you guys wish to keep using you analog TV set, you'll need a digital converter box. Best Buy has already give up its selling of analog television sets.

i didn't make the switch yet, but i don't htink i'll mind when i finally have to

I live in Canada, so this does not affect me, but one of my TV have a digital box because it is cheaper to pay for digital TV then Analog in Canada.

I've finally got a digital converter box today, so I'm prepared for the DTV transition. All I need now is a stronger antenna that can pick up great reception.

QUOTE (Demon_Skeith @ January 26, 2009 09:46 pm) well it happened people, the senate has passed a bill saying that this will not take place until june 12th of 09. Now I have to put up with those DTV commercial's for 4 more months. This will get annoying.

you can read more about the delay here
Actually tbe DTV bill passed only through the Senate, but the House has failed to pass it.

See story here

It's likely that Feb. 17th will stand as the day to complete the DTV transition.

Update: Looks like Congress has finally approve the proposal to delay the DTV switch, now its awaiting Obama's signature.

this bill gives tv stations the right to delay it or do it on time. and my tv broadcasters are doing it on the 17th.

According to me analog TV is better then digital TV coz digital tv has un-nessasary so many feature which we do not use and it requires training to run the tv, its support is not easly availble in the market so i would like to go with analog tv.

I agree, but if you have a digital TV with an ATSC (HDTV) tuner then you would not need a cable box. The cable box can be hard to set up if you never set up a dvd, vcr, or game console before.

I been using digital TV for years and found the picture quality to be pretty good. You sacrifice "ease of use" for quality.

But, everytime my parents press a wrong button on the remote some Menu screen pops up, and they don't know how to close the menu screes, so I need to press the "exit" button for them.

What I like about Digital TV is that I can search for my favourite shows, and see what time and channel they are on.

Sounds like the country you're from still offers analog TV service, where digital TV isn't as popular.
