Luke Evans is slated to join the cast of Pinocchio, which currently features Tom Hanks as the kindly carpenter Geppetto. Evans will be portraying the Coachman, who ferries Pinocchio and other young boys to Pleasure Island — where they are transformed into donkeys.
It was previously announced at Disney's 2020 Investor Day event that Pinocchio, alongside Peter Pan & Wendy, will bypass theaters in favor of a debut on Disney+.
Pinocchio will be a live-action retelling of the 1940 classic Disney story. Robert Zemeckis will direct the film and co-write the screenplay with Chris Weitz.
