Are we, as gamers, guilty of rejecting genuine innovation, in favor of familiar, same-old genre games?

In the week when we welcome the launch of the year's biggest game, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, and following last week's introduction of Grand Theft Auto V, IGN's Game Business podcast tackles the question of innovation. Ubisoft's U.S chief Laurent Detoc this week said that the media struggles to accept new ideas. Are we merely following a lead set by consumers who buy the same franchises year-after-year? Or do games like Uncharted 3 show that innovation can come by degrees?

I say yes, I be happy with same old mario, zelda, FF 9 and before, and old school MMX.
 
LOl, I wouldn't say so. I guess what worked before will still work for the companies eh? i'd say we welcome small changes, not big ones. That's why companies keep producing games like COD and etc.
