This just randomly popped into my head, but do you think there are people out there that operate pirate radio stations? I feel like with all the freedoms of the internet that people wouldn't gravitate to it, but maybe it still exists.
The radio equipment to run Pirate Radio Stations is not as expensive as the past. You can probably get the equipment for cheaper prices on eBay. There maybe some people who run pirate radios because they can now afford to buy the equipment.
But, running a pirate radio station can get you in trouble with the law because your broadcast can interfere with other radio signals, and emergency radio signals which the Police, Fire department, and Ambulance uses. You are also breaking copyright laws if you broadcast music which you don't have the rights to broadcast.
There is a chance that you listened to a pirate radio station which is pretending to be a real radio station to avoid getting in trouble with the law.
Most people who operate a Pirate radio may not say they are a Pirate radio because Pirate Radios are against. The Pirate Station does not have a license to use the Radio frequency needed to operate a pirate radio station.
The Pirate radio also may be breaking copyright laws if they play copyrighted music without the musicians' and song owners' permission.
