Do you ever give to the homeless?

oh yes most of the time, unless they look like obvious junkies then not.

Here in the area where I live, at least once I travel into the nearest city - about a 20 minute journey - we tend to get a lot of posers, its known and often appears in the local press. So I am a little bit cautious about giving to people on the side of the road. I would rather give to charities relating to homeless people, which I do from time to time.

Yes but ive herd that alot of international charaties donate less than 20% of what they get from people and their CEO's earn like millions upon millions of dollars per year! :/

Yes, I gave money to the homeless in the past.

I used to volunteer at a place which fixes old computer, and installed Ubuntu Linux on old computers to donate to places who need computer. There is a possibility that a few homeless people will end up using those computers at community centers, and other places which let the public use computers.

I personally don't give little cash here and there, but my family does especially my grandparents when walking pass, but that's probably once in three years.

Rather give to charity then somethin or someone on the street because it can be fake guy being homeless cunt. I gotta be careful myself lately with banking otherwise I would be homeless Lol

I give to a few charities around the holidays, but otherwise no to both questions.

You could always smell them to check if they are really homeless. I don't think it is very likely for a person who wants to pretend they are homeless to abstain from taking a shower for several weeks just to make it believable.

I think, in big cities, the homeless usually have a place to shower at a homeless shelter, public washroom, local church, friend's or family's house, or at the shower at the community center. The government also sometimes provides a place for the homeless to bathe to prevent people from getting sick, and spreading their sickness to the general public.

Most homeless who don't bathe regularly probably found a way to not smell bad by using $1 perfume or cologne from the dollar store, or using the perfume which they find in people's trash, or using perfume which people donate to charities and thrift stores.

A lot of homeless people still need to smell okay, and look clean because they work at a job, but they don't earn enough to afford housing because they don't work enough hours per day, they are bad at saving money, or they choose to be homeless.

Smelling good and looking clean also increases the homeless chances of being hired to work after their job interview.

Like what foggy said above. Those who portend to be homeless ( that's if there are any) always can jump into a dirty bath or put on years of old unwashed clothes.

Talking about it, it might be a undercover police officer, who knows

I read stories of undercover police officers who pretend to be homeless to catch criminals like drug dealers. I guest, criminals are more likely to commit crimes like speeding, theft, or assault in front of the homeless, or share/brag about their criminal activities with the homeless because some criminals feel the homeless is less likely to turn them in thinking that the homeless don't have phones, or stop caring about reporting criminals to the police...

There is a chance you could be giving money to an undercover police officer who ask for money to play the role of a homeless person better, so criminals, and the public believe they are homeless, and not an undercover police officer posing as a homeless person, and secretly reporting and recording crimes to the police station.

Asking for money also give undercover police officers to get close to criminals, so they can secretly plant a tracking and recording device on criminals, see if the criminals are dealing drugs, smell drugs on them, and to see if they are carrying weapons on their body.

What? Have you actually done that?
No, because I'm a trusting person who abides by the 'innocent until proven guilty' philosophy, and I don't care if a person I give money to is a fake homeless person or not. As long as I do the good deed, it's counted as a good deed. If they fake being homeless to trick people, karma will catch up with them eventually.

There are sometimes people who are very poor, but not homeless because they live with their friends. But, they may still need money for healthcare and food if the person they are living with does not have enough food to share.

Asking for money maybe one of the most realistic ways to get some money if their chances of employment are very low because of problems like there are not enough places hiring new workers, or they have personal problems preventing them from working, and they can't get government assistance or a loan to help pay for food, healthcare, and other expenses which they need to pay themselves.

Is it really counted as a good deed though? In some situations you're a victim of dishonesty & deception and/or you're funding a person's drinking problem or drug addiction.

All the time, especially to the elderly.
I don't usually give to children and other people, who can actually work. I know that there are some homes which take these people for free....but somehow, they prefer begging more :(
