Topic says it all. SMG2 had Miyamoto commenting on how they didn't want to put in any form of major plot, so they kept it simple. I was fine with this decision, it didn't affect my overall experience with it. That said, with upcoming Mario games on the horizon, would you want an interesting and "out of the ordinary" plot to appear that doesn't involve just Peach being stolen? Would you want a little bit more, or a whole lot more, or maybe even less?

I myself am undecided. While a 3D Mario game with a plot would be kinda awesome in a sense, it would also be a bit weird... I'm more comfortable with heavy plots being applied to the Mario RPG spin-offs like Mario & Luigi and Paper Mario. That said, a combination of the two, so I get a 3D Mario RPG (no, Paper Mario is not what I'd call 3D just yet, seeing as there's a fixed camera and well... the characters are virtually 2D) would be something I would definitely go out and buy, heh.

I agree with NintenDan - The plot only needs to be applied to the RPG games, like the Mario and Luigi series as well as Paper Mario. Those series use plots to full effectiveness, but games where it just seems to be "Peach is in danger go save her" well that's really all the plot you need.

Paper Mario 64 is an exception to this since there was more plot in it than that. Mario had to discover his weakness first as well as find out why Bowser was so strong.

I just want a plot. SMG2 had next to nothing and that was one of the things I didn't like about it.
Heh, well that's true. It did kinda just leap you into action and that was it. I didn't enjoy how Rosalina was all mysterious, and at the end, just showed up and said a massive "SUP" to everyone and that was it.
