Do you make do when it comes to ingredients?

Let's just say you don't have all the ingredients you need and all... Will you make do with whatever ingredients you have? Or do you get them before trying to cook that dish?

Don't have them? I either don't cook or I go running for them.

I usually use ingredients I have at home to cook because I don't live close to a grocery store.

I remember making a pizza once and went to put on the sauace and realize I forgot to get a jar of Ragu, I cursed so loudly that night.
