Do you mod your games?

As a PC user you often have the benefits of being able to download game mods which alter the state of the game and add new things. Do you find yourself doing this? What kind of mods do you use?

no since I don't PC game, but I do use cheats though if that counts.

I do. Especially since I often play older games, so I'm always looking for mods that improve the graphics and that sort of thing. Also SKYRIM!!

I only install mods for certain PC games in which I am sure it will enhance my experience such as Skyrim, Cities Skylines, and Kerbal Space Program.  Some of the mods available for Cities and Kerbal, in particular, help fix things that the developers haven't gotten around to fixing yet.

Mods are definitely one of the best features of PC gaming. I always mod my games, if there are quality mods available. I have been doing it since playing Baldur`s Gate some 13 years ago. I also modded the **** out of Skyrim, Oblivion, Morrowind and the newer Fallout games. I think modding your game is an awesome way to add great features to it.

I do add mods, but I don't do it for every game. For example, I mostly play Skyrim without mods, but I used to have enhanced sky/cities graphics before the change - then they made everyone pay for the mods and well, my brother and I thought it wasn't really that worth it, so we erased everything. Now, it's back to normal, but we still haven't got our mods back. Maybe we won't, who knows.

I also like downloading custom content for Age of Kings/the Forgotten, though I usually don't add enhancements such as water (used to do it, my game crashed... that was fun). Some scenarios and such are really interesting to play, I just can't resist. And I absolutely love maps! There's always a thing or two to be found at Steam Workshop. Sometimes I spend hours browsing...

I don't add mods for Civilisation, though (are there any? I can't recall...). I don't think I've modded much else.... except for GTA San Andreas! Now that was a modding heaven! One year, it was so popular that playing without mods wasn't even considered. And that "drift fever" in 2005 or something...

Good old times...

I hear you.... I hear you, my friend. Skyrim forever!

I rarely use mods. I sometimes make simple mods and I don't even use them myself! Only game I've used a lot of mods is in Dark Souls 2 and they're all graphical mods. I really love the transparent UI mod and the game looks much much better using Gedosato and SweetFX.

Modding is a must to fine-tune different elements of a game I am already familiar with. For example, I have already spent hundreds of hours on Fallout 3, FO New Vegas and Skyirm. When I revisit those games, I find the mods that would help add more enjoyment and customization to those games, which will extend their replayability.

I think sticking with vanilla is okay, up to a point. If you're new to the game, great, play vanilla. However, I think people are truly missing out on adding further capabilities of games that can be modded.

Also, another reason to mod is to remove head bobbing in first person games.

Usually no. I prefer to play most games the way the developers created them. But if replaying a game for a second time, or alternatively just finding that a game is missing that something and you find it hard to play through it, then I do look into mods. They bring a lot of content and often some improvements so it's worth a try if you are getting bored.

The only games I've really bothred to mod have been the STALKER series, Fallout and Elder scroll games.

Stalker has a bunch and they all do different things.

Clear Sky has a lot of almost mandatory mods.

Call of Pripyat is fine out the box but Complete adds so much more to the game.

As for the elder scroll and fallout games, too many mods to count!

I do a lot of modding actually. It's one of the main reasons I chose a PC over a console.
A lot of games look much better with mods, and they can also add a lot of new things to the game (new items, characters, maps and so on). Even Minecraft is more enjoyable with a couple of mods (not shaders though, since they kind of ruin the franchise for me).

Depends on the game and where I am in it. Ill definitely download a mod that improves functionality, because it gives me the experience with the game that the developer intended without changing any of the story.

Once I've finished a game I might fuck around with cool mods I've heard of, because it adds to the fun when I have nothing left to play.

I've had a go at modding some of the GTA games I had on PC but it wasn't anything big. Mainly just screwing around with the gun technical values, like what sort of projectile it could fire and how powerful it was. It made for some fun gaming. When you've got a pistol that can literally blow someone away, you can can't help but laugh at the scene.

On SA I had a go at altering the water levels. I made a mistake of leaving the vaules as they were and entered some online races. The result was my car floundering in the water while everyone else was driving seeming underwater.

I totally agree. I think playing Vanilla on PC is just a waste. Bethesda games especially have a gigantic modding community. Why would anyone ignore it and not use free, high quality additional content for their games?
