Do you prefer Remote Desktop or using online programs with Web Browsers and Apps

I prefer just using Google Docs, and other online apps like DropBox, Onlive, Gaikai, etc since Remote desktop needs my home computer to be on and connected to the internet to log/remote into it from other places, and Remote Desktop seems more complicated because of setting I.P.s, firewall, passwords, etc then just using a web browser or app to log into my account to type, or do stuff, and later save/export to my computer I'm using currently.
