Yes, for some software like Photoshop since there are pretty good free and open source alternatives like Gimp, Paint.net, inkscape.

But, Game piracy will still be high for years since there are fewer free alternatives for good games like Call of Duty.

Sometimes its not worth torrenting/getting it illegal.
 
Its not called freeware its called free software if they under the gpl or lgpl.

However I do think they are helping that problem.

With gimp getting better with each release and other games like Urban Terror just as good as games like counter stike.

It is great.

Only downside to them all is they do not have great income.

If they could solve this problem I could see the programs getting better real fast.

I agree since you can get malware or viruses if you download from unreliable sources, plus the game/software industry is hurting and there will be fewer game releases if no one buy games anymore due to piracy. A sad day that will be when my fav. games stop getting made due to lack of money.
