Yes, I think advertising a new website which is only a few days old is easier by advertising on Social networks and forums since it can take a month or longer for some search engines to index my newer website and bring it traffic, but I can get some traffic and a few new members from other forums, social networks, blogs, and other sites.

When I registered Mxproject.com and my other websites it got virtually no traffic from search engines for the first few months. Most of my traffic came from other forums like Forum Promotions, Advertisement Centre, Digital Points, blog commenting, and a few social networks where I made groups for Mxproject. I also submitted Mxproject to all the popular social bookmarking sites, video sharing sites with a mx tour video, and article directories.

Plus, I also increase the amounts of Back links for my website which help with increasing my search rankings and referral traffic which also increase my pagerank and SEO scored.

Most of my active members came from Forums as well, or were from forums which closed down, and they need to join new forums.

Yeah! Social Networks advertising is really good!

When I advertised my blog, my friends were like "WOW! Really?! You created that?!". They probably know more accurate information about you so it would save time from reading the 'About Me/Us' page.

They'll be impressed > Tell their relatives & classmates about it > You get more supporters (normally 'quality' ones. Like those avid fans or stalker-types of people )
