Blu-Ray and DVD video disc are still popular with movie, and music concert video collectors and fans where smaller Korean, Japanese, and Chinese movies, and music concerts from foreign music like Korean , Chinese, and Japanese music like AoA, Twice, SNSD, Exo, Jay Chou, and Utada Hikaru can't be easily streamed online, or found on English download sites.

Bigger fans of a certain music group also still buy Music CDs to help support their favorite singers instead of buying their music on Apple iTunes, or Google Play Music where Apple, and Google makes a large percentage of the profits from the sales of digital files. I read an article online that singers also don't earn much money from streaming sites like Spotify, Soundcloud, YouTube Music and Pandora unless you are super popular, so buying an underrated singers music cds can help them afford to record new music instead of disbanding from their group, or needing to find another job like acting in dramas, commercials, and TV shows where the pay may not be good since they have to share the profits from many people.

Disc drives can be useful for fixing laptops where the USB ports are broken, or the USB chip on the motherboard is broken. Burning a Windows or Linux repair disc is a lot easier than making a USB flash drive because there are still some USB flash drives which are under 1GB in size, and some repair disc need 700MB or more space.

Disc are also the cheapest way to backup, and store files.
