I notice a lot of celebrities I follow on Twitter and Facebook post stuff like "shopping with my neice, I love olives, I'm having a bug bite rash, etc".

Do you think they do this to try to be more relateable with their fans?

Yes, I think some celebrities might post about their daily lives to try to be more relateable with their fans. Or maybe to prove. They are human, too.

I personally feel it is some what odd and a cheap way of making people think "Thay are people, too". If they want to be more relateable, they can do more fan meet and greets, sell cheaper concert tickets for better seats, and replying to some more fan mail by postal mail.

celebrities will do what they must to stay in the spot light. This can mean anything from using the latest tech craze or even if it means having a affair.

I agree it seems some celebrities only care about the spot light of being in tabloids and gossip website by writing emo twetts, and dumb photos and videos of them doing dumb things like releasing racy pictures instead of releasing new songs on a their website for fans to listen to.

I'm not even sure that they do the postings themselves.. not that I care, it's just that I have a hard time believing that someone can be THAT stupid, when we are surrounded by so much technology.

Then again, I could be wrong.. they just might be that stupid, hence the reason for them becoming famous as, they didn't have the intelligence to be successful without the spotlight.
