Electric car motors have fewer moving car parts which can break, so car mechanics may charge more money to repair electric cars because car mechanics may not get as many returning monthly costumers if electric cars become very popular and don't break as often as gas cars except for car crashes and driver's abusing their car by driving their car too fast, or modifying their car's motor to be faster.

Car repair shops can charge a lot of money to do maintenance and repair a gas car, so I think they will also charge a lot of money to repair a electric car where it maybe cheaper or more worth it to buy a more reliable cheaper new or used electric car than hiring a mechanic for many days to fully repair a very old electric car with a lot of broken parts.

Electric car parts like electric motors and battery can take longer amount of time to break if the car's driver obey the law by not speeding, does not drive their car a lot on long road trips, and does not drive dangerously where they are more likely to damage their car because of overheating and in a car crash.

Fewer people may buy replacement electric car parts as often except if their car parts got broken in a crash or someone stole their car parts. Electric car parts maker may make fewer electric car parts which may increase the price of car parts. Rare car parts are usually sold for higher prices than popular car parts because rare parts are harder to find, and unpopular car parts which don't get a lot of buyers may cost more if it is harder to get as many buyers per month, so fewer items are made in a year.

As of now, I think they are expensive because electric cars are not quite popular. But I think if electric cars replaced the gas powered cars, then there will be more businesses that will sell electric car products because there will be competition. And more businesses means lower price.

I think eventually large companies like Amazon, and Walmart may hire electric car parts engineers and factories, and sell cheaper third-party electric car parts like motors and batteries like how Amazon now sell their own cheap $50 Fire tablets.

Users will buy electric car parts online in the future from a website like Amazon who hires a mechanic to install the car part to fix their car by installing it for them if it is a simple repair and part which does not need many tools to install a part like a cooling fan, and if it is a harder repair, they bring more tools, and car jacks to jack up the car, or tow the closest car to a car repair garage.

Selling car parts on a website may bring down the cost of electric car parts because they can store the electric car parts in places with lower land and income tax rates, and lower minimum wage for workers.

Some electric cars like Tesla and BMW i3 are luxury cars, so some electric car parts maybe expensive because most rich people, and people who act rich may enjoy spending thousands of dollars on maintaining and repairing their electric cars, and only trust expensive car parts.

Some rich people may prefer having long car related conversations with the mechanic and fast repairs rather than fixing their luxury electric car at a cheaper car repair shop where the mechanic does not talk much because of a lack of time, take longer to repair a car because they have too many cars to repair and also sell used cars to earn extra money, and repair as many cars as possible to earn more money per day by repairing many cars per day instead of a few cars.

I think some stores charging too much is true for many products like cars, electronics, video games, clothes, etc sold by expensive stores.

There are some buyers who are addicted to wasting money by going on a shopping spree at expensive stores and are easily convinced into buying expensive products like gold plated USB cables which may not last longer than a regular USB cable, and does not offer noticeable data transfer speed increase.

I think there would always be companies which sell expensive products for people who are addicted to wasting money on expensive stuff, and sell expensive products to people who are easily convinced into buying expensive products which they think are better.
