Possibly some free antivirus are as good as the best paid antivirus, but maybe not all free antivirus are as good as paid since I think free antiviruses might lack the money and number of employees to improve their free antivirus programs compared to the best paid antivirus programs like VIPRE antivirus which passes a lot of tests for antivirus and usability tests. But, for 30 dollars a year for VIPRE Antivirus, I expect all their costumers expect the best from VIPRE and nothing less compared to some free antivirus users who just want an free antivirus to get the job done, and does not expect them to go above and beyond the call of duty to protect their users computer since working for free or very little money can be kind of limiting unless you are Microsoft who has tons of money generated from revenue from Windows 7, Xbox 360, MS Office 2010 to work on their free products like Security Essentials, Windows Live Messenger, Windows Live Essentials, etc.
