I think some people may buy $1-5 mobile games from a vending machine, and use the download code from a vending machine to redeem the game, or the game gets sent to their mobile number by text message.
The vending machine can also provide free Wi-Fi to download the game, so the buyer avoids expensive data cost from going over their smartphone data limit.
There are already Bestbuy Vending machines which sell physical products, so making a vending machine which takes real cash to buy digital items should not thar hard to do.
I see Wal-mart sells those Farmville and Maple Story Giftcards, and they also sell gift cards for Minecraft download codes, so using a vending machine maybe cheaper than hiring someone at a cashier to accept payment.
I think making paper cards are not very expensive since giftcard companies been using them for awhile.
Plus, I think giftcards sometimes attract more buyers because you get a physical item which is the card, and some people may like the design of the card, and buy them to keep as a collectors item.
Taking out $1-2 in coins is also more convenient than taking out a credit card, and typing in your password to pay for something online. A lot of people also prefer paying in cash because most kids, and some workers like handymen get payed in cash for one time jobs like fixing a toilet.
Very true, it kinda makes sense to then, although you still need to have all the vending machines connected to the internet which may require a bit of work, idk...
Indeed, but I think some vending machines may already be connected to the internet to make sure the employee who is collecting the vending machine to know when the money bin is full in the machine by looking at a website.
I think I seen vending machines which accept credit and debit cards, and can accept money by using a cell phone to text the vending machine money to bill on a cell phone bill like those premium text message numbers which send you jokes and ringtones for a few cents per text.
