Yes, I think it can be very difficult to compete with a website where the webmaster, staff, and owners spend 12 or more hours a day advertising their website on social networks, forums, etc , and there seem to more and more big companies like eHow.com which are making websites about general chat, and everyday tasks.
 
Indeed, the more time you spend on promoting a traffic on a daily basis, the more traffic and members you'll get.
 
I can swear on this, I know this one guy who pretty much devotes all his time towards the net and I've seen him make a forum popular and ended up destroying it within months (which was due to a lot of people disliking him) :blink:

He sounds pretty familiar. I think I ran into him,too. I wonder if it is the same guy I am thinking of. He also loves Nintendo and Anime.
