Do you think many parents try to make their kids buy high tech cars because new cars look safer?

It is a possibility that many parents don't want their teen drivers to drive a more enjoyable and faster low tech old car like a very old Chevy Camaro or Ford Mustang which sometimes does not have safety features like Air bags if the car is very old. But, old cars can be more fun to drive, have cool engine rumbling sounds, and look nicer than most new cars and trucks. Older cars also use a lot of gas compared to newer cheap cars and hybrid cars like a Toyota Prius which maybe one reason that it is not a good car for teens with less money. Old used cars may require more maintenance if the previous owners did not maintain it well, or fix it up before selling it.

New cars has a lot of high tech features like backup camera, automatic braking, Stereos which has a CD/DVD player and Bluetooth wireless, Android/Apple Auto OS, and driving help tech like traction control, lane departure warning, blind spot detection, and auto braking. But, I think there are many young drivers who rather buy a cooler high performance car which has a more powerful engine, and less tech in the car to keep the cost of the car affordable, and make the car weigh less, so it can move faster, steer better, and use less gas because it weighs less.

They maybe safer, but all the on board technology makes them more distracting.

In certain conditions, they maybe more dangerous. I read a few articles of airbags killing people in crashes because defective airbag contains metals which can shoot out of the airbag, and the metal slice open people's body. I saw a news report that an exploding airbags metal flew out of a women's steering wheel, and the metal sliced her neck, and killed her, and the crash was a slow speed crash.

Some classic cars are also very heavy which may crush lightweight cars which are made with less steel, and are mainly designed for using less gas, and handle better.

I agree new cars these days have too many distractions like a giant touchscreen, and many buttons.

air bags kill people because the car makers cut corners.

Honestly, I believe that is the case.
They always want what is best for their kids after all
