I think Microsoft might just sell Windows with Microsoft branded computers, laptops, and tablets like the Microsoft Surface RT/Pro tablet, and stop selling the operating system seperately in the future because it would mean they can earn money from both the hardware, and operating system instead of just the operating system like how Apple, Amazon, and Blackberry earns money from the operating system, hardware, and apps.
They can also control both the hardware, and operating system like the Windows Surface Tablets instead on relying on computer makers to make hardware which may work or not work very well for Windows.
Indeed, they will make more money selling it seperately to buyers with older computers who want a new OS on their computer, but if they stop selling licenses to HP, Acer, and other computer makers, and MS become the only Windows computer makers for desktop and laptops like the MS Surface Tablet, and Xbox 360, they can make hundreds more per buyer on the sale of both the computer, laptop or tablet and operating system instead of just the OS.
