Yes, I think more people are holding onto their desktops and laptops longer then 5 years because a lot of todays computer would still be good enough for e-mail, social networking, watching movies, listening to music, Word Processing, Printing, web browsing, and doing other daily things in the future.
I have computers from 2002 which still work pretty well when you install Linux, and other faster operating systems on them.
