Do you think most people upgrade/replace their wireless routers much?

I think not many people upgrade or replace their wireless router these days until they are broken since Internet speeds from people's ISPs are not getting much faster then a router's maximum speed which is 54Mbps for G-150-300MBps for N wireless unless you pay more money for Fiber or T3 internet.

Plus, there are not many new "must-have" features which can convince the average user to upgrade. Most people probably treat a router like a power bar, it is used to split the internet wirelessly or with wires, so more then one computer can use them like how a power bar makes it possible for multiple electronics to use the same power wall plug at one.

Most new modems which ISPs sell or rent to buyers already have a built-in wireless router making it easier for the costumer to setup wi-fi themselves, or the installer sets it up for you during internet installation.

USB hard drives and flash drives are cheaper now that you can buy a drive just to play video, and music you copied from one PC from them instead of streaming music and video from one computer to another with a wireless or wired router which is complicated and uses more electricity and bandwidth which can slow down online gaming, and internet browsing for other users.

I read in Japan, young people are switching to using their cell phones data internet plan instead of Fiber wired internet because it is cheaper, more mobile, and they already own a smartphone with internet access which they can connect to a PC according to http://gigaom.com/20...-lines-for-lte/

This would mean they would rely on the cell phone towers and antannaes for wireless internet access instead of a home Wi-Fi router.

I only had to replace my router once because it suddenly had a problem with my modem giving me horrible speeds. So I went from linksy to netgear and two years later still going good.

I just upgraded my router which I bought in the early 2000s because I bought a tablet which only connects by Wi-Fi, and my old wireless sometimes disconnect and needs to be rebooted every few days. Besides disconnecting once every few days it worked great.

I rarely used Wi-Fi before I got my tablet, so the wi-fi disconnecting problem did not bother me since I only use Wi-Fi a few days a year if my desktop computer which is connected by wires was broken, or I could not use it because the room is also in the living room, so if there are guest over I rather not be in the same room using the computer watching Anime, Japanese or Korean Music Videos, or gaming since it might start awkward conversations with guests.

I think internet companies someday might be more likely to just sell wireless internet to save money on wires, telephone/cable poles, and other physical objects. The consumer also save money by not having to rent or buy a modem, router, internet wires, and pay for the electricity which the router and modem uses when it is on.

Plus, more and more computers like Tablets, Smartphones, eReaders, The Google Chromebook, etc don't come with wired internet ports to plug in the internet.
