I usually use Facebook, Twitter, Youtube, and forums to promote my websites, forums, blogs, etc since it is a free and easy way to get a few extra visitors to my websites.
I find the majority of profiles I visit on social websites has a lot of links, pictures, videos, and posts about their website, company, products, or themselves.
A lot are, yes.. you can tell this from the admins attitude toward the users of the forum.
If they are the type to have a ego and have a tendency to abuse their powers and not really care about their members, then yes, it is safe to say that that admin uses their forum for their own agenda rather than as a community.
