Yes, I think one of the reason forum spam is so common because spammers can register for free e-mail accounts in a few seconds once they make a bot, or use scripts which can read the captcha code for Gmail, yahoo mail, and other free e-mail accounts registration forms.

I notice more and more spammers use free e-mail accounts vs their own domain e-mail accounts.
