Do you think there will be Gaming Chromebooks which run Chrome OS in the future?

I think there is a chance that Google or a company like Dell, HP, and Acer will someday release a Chromebook which has a nice Gaming laptop case design, and come with 8GB of RAM, a faster CPU like an Intel Core i7, Faster Nvidia or AMD graphics chip, and 1TB and larger storage drive.

Chromebooks can now run many Google Android games, and PC and console games like Half-Life, Doom 3, Final Fantasy 9, Sonic, etc are now available on Google Play for Android which can be used on some Chromebooks like the Asus Flip.

Some Chromebook buyers are Gamers who want a Chromebook with fast computer parts, and a gaming case design similar to a sports car or more expensive Pickup truck rather than a plain design like a cutting board, or a plain piece of metal like the Apple Macbook Pro and modern designed furniture.

How popular are Chromebooks? I've never really imagined them to have much market appeal or having them be around for that long. If they integrate with Android (I heard a new Chrome/Android OS is in the works?) then it will probably increase popularity for this kind of thing so it is possible.

Chromebooks are popular in US schools where they make up 50% of classroom computers, and the sales of Chromebooks to workplaces increased by 250% in 2014. But, Chromebooks are not as popular with regular home users who may still be using their very old Windows 7 computer which they may have upgraded to Windows 10.

But, Chromebooks are popular with new laptop buyers in the US based Amazon.com's Top 20 sales ranking for Traditional and 2 in 1 laptop Rankings.

There are currently four Chromebook models on the Amazon.com top 20 Best Seller Traditional Laptops category.

The ASUS Chromebook C202SA-YS02 is the number 4 best selling Traditional laptop on Amazon. It is also the best selling laptop for under $200. It currently sells for $195.

There are now five Chromebooks in the best selling Top 20 2 in 1 laptop category on Amazon.com .

The Acer Convertible R11 is the number one best selling 2 in 1 laptop on Amazon.com

Oh, that's interesting froggyboy604 - I only said what I said because they appear relatively unpopular here in the UK - I never see anyone use them, and they don't see to get much space in hardware stores.

Chromebooks can be somewhat difficult to see since many Chromebooks made by Dell, HP, Acer, and Asus may use the same case design as cheaper Windows laptops. There is only a small Chrome logo on the top corner of the laptop's case, and some people may put a sticker or use a marker to cover the logo because the Chrome logo looks un-professional in a work or school environment because of the green, yellow, red, and blue Chrome logo. The Chromebooks keyboard is somewhat different since it does not have a Caps Lock Key, F1, F2, F3 function keys and Windows Key like Windows laptops.

A Windows or Linux laptop you are seeing being used in public maybe a Chromebook. Chromebooks generally cost slightly less than Windows laptops, so some people may buy them to install Pirated/free versions of Windows and Ubuntu Linux which is free on a Chromebook. It is possible to install Windows, and Ubuntu Linux on a Chromebook, so Chromebooks with bigger storage drives like 64GB or more of storage maybe dual-booting Chrome OS with Windows or Ubuntu Linux.

I think many stores mainly pick the top 10 best selling laptops, and don't have enough space to display as many laptops because many hardware stores also sell computer parts, game consoles, TVs, desktop PCs, and other stuff. Many people mainly buy Google Chromebooks from Google.com, Amazon, eBay, and other sites because it is easier, and cheaper if there is a sale going on for Chromebook.

They are unpopular all throughout Europe, as far as I know... Chromebooks are mostly used in American schools as cheaper alternatives for Macbooks.

Chromebooks in American schools are not just replacing Macbooks. They are now a cheaper and similar priced alternatives to Windows, OS X, Android, iOS, and Linux in US schools.

Futuresource looked at mobile PC sales in the U.S. K-12 sector, which achieved 18-percent year-over-year growth in 2016 with 12.6 million units sold. The biggest story is Google’s Chromebook, which grabbed 58 percent of the market in 2016. That’s an increase from 50 percent in 2015, based on affordability, G Suite productivity tools, lower device management costs, and other factors.

I seen a few cheaper 11 inch Chromebooks being used in Canada when I walk past restaurant Windows. But, most people who eat at restaurants and a cafe these days seem to use Apple Macbooks. A lot of restaurants are less affordable for people who earn less money, but are still affordable for people who can afford a Macbook, iPhone, and iPads.

Some Chromebook users, who use their laptop in public, may not use their Chromebook for school or work files as often where using a few online web apps like Evernote, Google Docs, and Google Android apps on their Chromebook like Asus Flip which support Google Play App store would work for them.
