What are your views on people or a group of people usually called vigilantes or Militias who protect themselves and others instead of calling the cops or a security gaurd for help?

Yes and no. They are good if their goal is to help people when the law enforcement, or government is not, but they are bad, if their goal is to overthrow the government.

I agree, they are good when the police is too slow to respond. For example, if a vigilante or militia catches people who illegally enter the US by walking across the Mexican border or you see some creepy man trying to kidnap someone's child. By the time you call the police, the illegals already reach the US and someone's child is already missing.
They can be bad if they go to far like punching, kicking, and using violence to punish the criminal instead of just tieing them up, and waiting for the police to come to pick them up.

like BA said, yes and no. If something needs action which the police and government are too slow to act on I say Vigilantes and Militia are good and needed.

Depends what they're doing and if the law isn't working.
