Do you use WordPress for your site?

I created my new site called Online Conversions based on a customized WordPress theme.

This is my first WordPress site, and I am quite excited about it because I wanted to build a WordPress site for a long time.
I found WordPress to be both robust and flexible, with a lot of useful plugins and themes.
There is also a huge community of developers that helped me in my first steps.

Do you also like WordPress?
Do you prefer it as a CMS or do you prefer others like Joomla or Drupal?
what are the advantages and disadvantages of WordPress in your opinion?

I use WordPress for my "main" site. I make videos and music and write on occasion, so it all goes there. It's great for doing timed content, and making a big catalog of all your work. The only thing I don't like about it is integrating forums and other things not native to WordPress.

Nope, that's my answer

I haven't bothered with using wordpress because that's one more thing I have to develop a theme for, get integrated into the main site, keep updated (with software updates) and keep new content flowing too. And at the moment I just don't have enough time to do that by myself. If I had a co-admin or some staff, possibly then maybe.

I use WordPress on my forum, and other sites I own. It seems to be the easiest popular Blogging platform to use.

There are also a lot of third-party themes and Frameworks with point and click custumizations like Thesis, and Genesis which make customizing the look and feel of the site pretty good by using skins, and making manual edits to the theme in the settings of the theme.

I think starting a blog could be a good way to get more traffic to your site if you occasionally post content to a blog. Plus, longer posts with thousands of words maybe more suitable for a blog than a forum because a blog's layout is more simple, and is designed for posting text, images, and videos at the top of the page, and replies at the bottom.

Drupal and Joomla are kind of harder to use. I feel the Drupal and Joomla userbase is declining, and not as active these days, so fewer plug-ins, themes, and mods are being developed for Drupal and Joomla and WordPress.

I love WP based themes, since they allow developing a basic site or highly dynamic websites in multiple languages with number of users and unlimited functionalities. TemplateMonster has a great collection of gaming related WordPress themes. I’m in a search for a fully responsive theme for my new game portal project and I think I’ve got exactly what I was looking for. I think I will use the Save Zone theme for my new website.

Yeah I do. Everything on the Gaming Reinvented site is built in WordPress, with various custom plugins and theme functionality adding a ton of features. I also use a plugin for WordPress called Xenword to integrate the site with the forums, displaying things like forum posts in topics as comments on their respective articles (as Demon Skeith has likely noticed).

I do like to use WordPress when creating websites. Makes it easier to manage and has good theme and plugin systems.

I used to use one for Gamingforce, but like most things I didn't have time to upkeep it.

I think maintaining WordPress is not as time consuming these days because it now updates automatically for both plug-ins, themes, and the blog software. Manually updating WordPress is pretty fast if you want to manually update it.

But, I find it is hard to post good blog articles on a daily or weekly basis. I think writing online is not for everyone. Blogging can be a disappointing activity if you don't get a following of active readers who reply on blog posts. Blog posts can take hours, days, or weeks to write, and not getting any replies can be disappointing to bloggers who want feedback, so they can improve themselves, or know that what they are writing is useful to readers. Getting traffic to blogs is also harder these days because social networks like Facebook, LinkedIN and Google Plus are now like blogs where they post full news stories, and videos to its site for people to read, and comment on.

People are also getting more of their news from video and media sites like YouTube, Instagram, Snapchat, and Vine, so a lot of people these days may not bother visiting blogs anymore.

I'm used to WordPress Websites since I've created lots of it before and quite friendly and nice to me.

The software itself I kept up to date, but update.... 4.0 I think completely screwed up my WP. But I meant the articles, sure it sounds easy to make at least one a week but thats time better dedicated to the forum.

I once used an older theme which messed up a version of WordPress, so I needed to find a new theme.

I think if you are short on time, it is possible to write a short article in 30 minutes or less. I see some bloggers who write a few shorter 500-1000 word posts a day on a blog.

I think some blog topics like gardening tutorials which are not news related don't need as many posts per month because there are not a lot of new things to post about everyday once you post most of the important posts about a topic.

Blogs can be another way of getting visitors from search engines, social networks, and other blogs when people link to your posts on sites like Facebook, Twitter, forums, and other blogs. You can also share your blog posts on your forum, other people's forum. You can also post links to forum topic to your blog.

There are bigger blogs and websites like Tom's Hardware which also have an active forum which are mostly readers from the website's blog on the front page of their site.

I gotta say, the only downside to getting a wordpress site is the fact that its mandatory for the owner to keep up with updates. Otherwise, if one just so happens to slip under the radar then it will eventually cause site problems. Making it a headache for anyone who is a casual website owner vs the average everyday user. So activity really is the formula to maintaining this site properly where as other servers like joomla would probably be on top of that to keep you around. Still, WordPress is superior in that aspect and seems like the more realistic and stable choice these days.

WordPress automatically updates itself when an important security update is released for WordPress, and it is possible to set WordPress up to automatically update plug-ins, and themes.

Manually updating WordPress is simpler to do than Joomla in my experience because I can update WordPress, and its plug-in with a web browser.

It is important to make regular back ups to WordPress, and its database to prevent dataloss if something goes wrong.

I know my auto updated to version 4 and it no longer worked.

Did you ever managed to fix WordPress 4 to work again?

Sadly, I notice older themes, and plug-ins are usually the reason for WordPress to not work because of a compatibility problem with the older theme, or plug-in with newer versions of WordPress.
