Do you usually approach your supervisor to get more work?

That's a yes for me.

When I don't have much, I try to approach my supervisor. However, I am trying to get rid of this habit these days

I think it's great that you seek out more work when you've finish your tasks. It's a great demonstration of work ethic. You have to make sure you make it clear though that you're wanting more responsibilities in hopes of a promotion though. You don't want to be tasked items just to keep busy. You'd want to be compensated for the additional responsibilities of course.

Depends on my mood and what shift I've worked.

Like if I'm getting off a night shift, sorry but I'm probably not going to do more. I'm likely tired already and have a bit of a drive home that I need to save energy for.
But for an afternoon shift? Yeah I might see if they need an extra hand for a bit. In the past I've helped out various places for a few hours to help them out.

Hmm.. That's something.
I have been thinking of the same as well but not many would want to give that extra credit... Usually

This is the problem at my work. If you go ask for more tasks, then you won't get compensated for it in the end. You'll just get asked to do those things repeatedly in the future. So, I'll normally go look for something to do on my own. That way, if the boss does happen to walk by, then I'll at least look busy.

Lol..I really need to do this
I don't want to feel bad later because they wouldn't notice the amount of work I do usually

At my retail job I would if I was bored and in a mood to do something. Currenty job I've ley my mangers know plenty of times that I'm up for more, but usually just play a game while waiting for support requests.
