For some reason, I do.
I really need to avoid this in the near future. What about you guys? Do you spend a lot?

It seems like my hubby and I spend a lot on groceries. We use to spend $50-$60 a week on groceries. Now, we're spending about twice that amount each week.

Lol, how do you double that? I can see a little, but double? Getting the fancy stuff?

The past few months, yes. Spent a bit too much on some non-essential things so it's going to be saving season for me over the next few months. The plan is to not make any big purchases until Christmas.

No, when my hubby and I first got married, we'd spend about $50 to $60 a week on groceries. We spend twice as much now and we're not doing anything different than we did when we got married. Mind you, my hubby and I will have been married 20 years come September. A lot can change in 20 years.....including the price of groceries.

So the price of the same products you were buying just went up if nothing else has changed.

We have also started to spend a lot more, but our needs and tastes have also changed.

I would also like to point out that the more you start earning, the more your needs grow or new ones appear. It is only logical.

And to save yourself from big expenses and save up for a small house somewhere on the beach, you do not have to deny yourself everything and tighten up your savings in a mattress. Sometimes it’s enough just to use personal assistant that helps to control your expenses. I use Mint and always see which sphere I should take under control. It helps me greatly! When you have it all visually it is easier to analyse.

I hang with my grandparents too much, I'm well aware of prices going up. Still remember when I walk home from school and get a 16 oz coke for 1.50, now its $2.

What store do you usually buy a bottle a Coke from? I think a bottle of coke cost $1.25 at Dollar Tree where I live.

Yes, the price of our groceries have gone up. Way, way up.

And they wonder why people are pushing for the minimum wage to go up?

Minimum wage should always be tied to the cost of living.

The problem is, every time the minimum wage goes up then everything else goes up. People throw a fit every time they can't pay their bills so they thinking increasing the minimum wage is the answer. But the companies will throw a fit because they are having to pay their employees more money. So, the cost of living drives people to demand higher minimum wage and then the higher minimum wage drives companies to charge more money for their products so you are still not going to be able to pay your bills in the end.

pretty sure there are nations that make this work though. I think it fails in America because CEOs demand more than they should be getting.

Yeah, that happens with a lot of companies. The CEO thinks they have to have more and more money and that they're worth every penny.
