Yes, I think it would be a good thing if there are more popular operating systems in stores today instead of just being able to buy Windows and Mac operating systems at stores, or which come bundled with computers. Hopefully, Google Chrome OS, HP WebOS, Ubuntu Linux, and Linux Mint will become competitors to Windows and Mac in the future in the retail desktop and laptop market.
I wouldnt mind seeing Linux as opposed to the biggest money makers out there.. It would show people that just because it is free doesn't mean that it can't be better than their money-grubbing counterparts..
But I doubt that we'd ever see that happening anytime soon..
I heard Google Chrome OS, Android, and HP's WebOS is based on Linux, but most consumers probably does not know that Chorme OS, etc are using Linux.
I also doubt Linux and other Alternative Operating System would be popular in the near future since most Linux operating systems can't afford advertising on TV, online, or in newspapers like Microsoft and Apple which both spend millions of dollars on advertising their software.
