Because I have to say I am, and that I think everyone's making ridiculous assumptions about how well the systems will even do.
I mean sure, the PS4 has sold fairly well so far. But it's right after the console launch, about a month before Christmas. So what if the PS4 sold a million copies extremely quickly? It's seen as a currently 'hot' product being sought after by tech enthusiasts and die hard fanboys (and people wanting to resell for ridiculous prices on eBay).
You know what else did well in a similar time frame?
The Wii U. Sold about 3-4 million units in the first month or so.
Then January came round, and sales literally just sank to about a few hundred thousand units in a month. Then went down further.
Bet you anything something similar will happen here too. Oh sure, sales are doing great now... but that's because the early adopters who seemingly buy anything because it's 'cool' are getting one. As well as people buying them for Christmas presents and what not.
Long term sales are going to be more important, since they show what the average consumer thinks of the product. And I suspect that both Sony and Microsoft are gonna get one hell of a shock in early 2014.
Anyone agree?
