You know, the TellTale adventure game based on Minecraft?
Cause to be honest, I'm not sure I get the point of it myself. Isn't Minecraft's whole appeal that it's a wide open sandbox where you can do and build anything? Why would anyone want a linear, 'story' driven game based on that?
Seems as silly as a FPS version of Mario if you ask me...
I would want it because I can't do sandbox games. They bore me because I'm a story driven gamer. However, I've heard the story isn't anything great so I'm not really interested in it.
I am just curious to see how the pull it out precisely for the reason you mentioned. I don't think it is needed but if that means pulling up new gamers into it then it is all good. Also an story mode might be just what newcomers need in order to get the hang of the game. Minecraft is fun when you have a friend explaining you things but my first experience trying to understand it myself was pretty convoluted until someone linked me to a wiki.
No reason not to have some variety, it's not like it's existence taints the original game after all. It's a great way for them to get Minecraft marketed (and sold) to a larger audience, those who don't like the open ended sandbox style. There's also a massive modding crowd out there, who change the game into all sorts of different types, even making whole worlds and telling their own stories in them, so a Minecraft game telling it's own story isn't really that unusual at all.
I really enjoy the original game, and find the idea of the Story Mode interesting. I've been thinking of picking it up on Steam whenever the next sale comes around, it's got some good reviews, and looks fun, plus I've never played one of Telltale's game before.
I should not have posted here, but I will say that I don't play it and I don't even like the game. I have friends that play it allot and even made mods and have there own server.
