I've mentioned it a few times before, but to be honest, I've always been a bit surprised by just how terrible most journalism is in the world of video games. The large sites seem to be mostly be marketing materials for the companies, other sites just repost whatever they hear without even trying to verify it, every site in the niche just steals content for whatever reason it feels like...It just seems like gaming journalism is just way, way worse than that in most other fields.
I agree to a degree. I do think that a lot of sites don't have a lot of info on a game before reviewing it like you said. However the sites that do it right do it very well in my opinion. I also look forward to my copy of GameInformer every month so there you go.
