This review is pasted directly from my same gamefaqs review of this game. Titled....

Um.......I Thought Donkey Kong Country Was Supposed To "Return"

This is an overall great game....seriously. But if you're a classic gamer than we have to go over many things.

Gameplay: 7/10
Okay. First off WHY IN THE WORLD is Diddy Kong riding on Donkey Kong's back? What happened to "switch out Donkey to put Diddy in the lead, then Donkey will just follow using anti-gravity?" Well that's just one thing that doesn't give it the original feel. On the other hand the gameplay is pretty cool and unique. The level design is unique and impressive. You have your puzzle pieces going from well hidden to you'll find it if you just look through stuff. Even the KONG letters are hidden sometimes.

And we have different, unappealing enemies EVERYWHERE! We see not one familiar enemy, although some may resemble an old enemy. We have tiki enemies, some birds that can't fly, none of the very important Zingers, no boss is familiar. I see that the game takes place on DK Island. Should not the same DK Island have the same enemies, and FAMILIAR levels?

We also have Mirror Mode to be unlocked in the game in the very end of your line of non-boredom, because it's just when you beat the game. We have Time Trials. Between the puzzle pieces for images and time trials, the grabbing of grass attached to a piece of wood or tree, this game feels like it's a combination of the GBA Donkey Kong Country's and DK: King Of Swing.

Graphics: 10/10
Yeah the graphics are just what you would expect from a Wii - Gamecube-like, but well-defined. The colors are great and really brings out the defines of the levels and characters.

Music/Sound: 9/10
Let's see here. In the game you didn't include ALL of the Donkey Kong Country tracks. 5 in specific importance. You left out the cave theme, Cave Dweller Concert, which is a bit bizarre seeing that world 4 is titled CAVES. You left out Ice Cave Chant, which only was heard in one level of Donkey Kong Country. Gang Plank Galleon, also heard only once in the final boss battle. No Bad Boss Boogie, no surprise hence the no familiar enemies. And we don't hear the underrated Misty Menace. Hmm, this does not look good for the game.

And now a few of the ones that are heard are renamed. Life In The Mines Returns and Aquatic Ambiance Returns is fine with me, since the name of the tracks are instantly recognizable along with the sound. But we also have recognizable tracks that are named completely different. Factory Friction should have been named "Fear Factory Returns." Boulder Roller sounds just like "Northern Hemispheres" You all get where i'm coming from with this. they separated "DK Island Swing" into two separate tracks. What on Earth for?

But at least we get to hear new music. But horrible new music.

Sounds are great......well....only the SFX Bonus Win and Bonus Lose shorts.

Overall: 8/10
This really is a great game, but with all the nonsensical changes made, it may not be for anyone that absolutely loved Donkey Kong Country for SNES.

The game is a 10/10 for me. I really liked it. This must mean your review for the 3DS version isn't gonna be much different, considering its a port. :P Nice review.

don't worry mine's a 10/10 too, i just had to format it in gamefaqs form. even though i give games 10/10, it doesn't mean i could point out some things that hurt it.

I'm such easy-going when it comes to ratings.
