The first new Dragon Ball TV anime series in 18 years has been announced with a Japanese premiere set for July.

Called Dragon Ball Super, Famitsu reports the new show will apparently be written by Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama, with events taking place after Goku defeats Majin Buu.

Fuji TV producer Osamu Nozaki said: "As I read the plot [of the series] I've already received from Akira Toriyama, my dreams for this begin to expand. An enemy even stronger than Buu or Freeza may appear..."

The last new Dragon Ball TV show was Dragon Ball GT, which aired way back in 1996 and 1997. A film taking place after the events of the Majin Buu saga, called Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' premiered in Japan earlier this month, with a worldwide release due in future.

I was wondering when this was going to happen.

after the main buu saga?

we already have Battle of Gods and Resurrection of F, how much more are they going to cram in during the time period after the buu saga to the final episode with Uub?

Haven't seen either, really freaking wish resurrection of F come to all theaters but BS who ever decides that stuff as it won't happen. But the movies are just like day events so there is more to expand upon.

What I wish they do is make someone weaker than the previous villains and just be so smart they can't be beaten in normal methods.

I can't wait for Dragon Ball Super to come out in July! I am a big fan of the Dragon Ball series. At the end of GT, I remember that Vegeta jr. and Goku Jr. were fighting. I wonder if they will be grown up.

There is no GT, GT never happened in this series.

The Dragon Ball Super arc takes place after the Buu saga, and after Ressurection of F!
According to my view, Ressurection of F takes place after the Uub arc. So DBSuper will just be a continuation after that. I guess Goku already trained with Uub before the movies and Super will find a good way to introduce Uub to its storyline.
