Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods

A new DBZ film is due out in 2013 and a story outline has been given:

The story is set several years after the battle with Majin Buu. Birusu, the god of destruction who has maintained the balance of the universe, has awakened from a long slumber. Hearing rumors of a Saiyan (Saiya-jin) who defeated Freeza, Birusu comes looking for Goku.

Excited that a powerful oponent has appeared after so long, Goku ignores King Kai's advce and challenges Birusu in a battle. However, Goku is no match for Birusu's overwhelming power and is defeated. Birusu leaves after uttering an ominous message, “Is there anyone on Earth more worthy to destroy?” Will Goku and the others really be able to stop the God of Destruction?!

Thought this was going to be another live action movie when I first saw this lol, glad it's not though. This looks pretty sweet though I can't wait for it.

Someone who was FAR less powerful than the likes of Cell and Buu?

That seems kinda weird to me considering the high reputation Buu had during his years with Bibidi and destroying many worlds.

And the character design for the main badguy is just awful...

I think the reason he might care about Frieza more than Buu is that it's possible that when he was awake last Buu was either not around yet or already sealed away so no more destruction from him. And Cell's influence was pretty much limited to Earth so no one outside the galaxy really knew of him. But Frieza... Frieza was feared throughout galaxies as this extremely powerful tyrant who blew up worlds. So it'd be very easy/likely of this being hearing about Frieza.

Perhaps the reason he doesn't care about Cooler is because maybe the sector he was slumbering in or arrived in belonged to Frieza, not Cooler so people there wouldn't really know much, if anything, about Cooler. (Or they just don't count Cooler in the canon story...)

That stated, I'm kind of interested to see what they do here with the chance to break off and go their own direction since they don't have any source material they need to work from. (Since the story is set during a 10 year period where we know literally nothing about.)

Goku and friends fight that thing, they lose. They gain hope/spirit bomb and defeat the god or make him see reason and movie ends happily with no one dead or anything different.
