DS and PSP vied for the top spot in Media Create's Japanese sales charts this week (3/23 through 3/29). And in what is surely a good sign for world peace, they both won!

PSP came out on top in software, taking the top two spots with Gundam Senjo no Kizuna and Disgaea 2 Portable. There's a dark side to this, though, as Media Create reports a sell-through of under 50% for Gundam. Perhaps people prefer the game in its deluxe dome monitor arcade form.

Here's the full top ten for the week.

* 1. Gundam Senjo no Kizuna Portable (Namco Bandai, PSP): 85,208
* 2. Disgaea 2 Portable (Nippon Ichi, PSP): 38,634
* 3. Yu-Gi-Oh Five Days Star Dust Accelerator (Konami, DS): 36,806
* 4. Mario & Luigi RPG 3!!! (Nintendo, DS): 36,431
* 5. Super Robot Taisen K (Namco Bandai): 32,109
* 6. Jikkyou Powerful Pro Baseball 2009 (Konami, PS2): 26,711
* 7. Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G PSP the Best (Capcom, PSP): 24,574
* 8. Musou Orochi Z (Koei, PS3): 21,439
* 9. Resident Evil 5 (Capcom, PS3): 16,837
* 10. Rittai Picross (Nintendo, DS): 16,339

In the hardware race, both portables continued to benefit from recent color releases, but the DSi benefited just a bit more, selling about 3,000 units more than PSP. The PS3 continued to top the consoles, and will presumably remain at top for the time being as the Final Fantasy XIII demo's April 16 release approaches.

Here's the full hardware chart, with last week's figures in parentheses:

* DSi: 57,401 (71,233)
* PSP: 54,148 (65,765)
* PS3: 22,825 (25,435)
* Wii: 17,276 (18,095)
* DS Lite: 8,408 (8,948)
* Xbox 360: 4,849 (5,441)
