Nyko, a popular 3rd party gaming accessories maker has come out with a power pack for the Playstation 4's Dualshock 4 controller.


The battery pack connects via the controller's micro USB port and Nyko claims it to double the standard battery capacity of the DualShock 4.


"It's lightweight and does not impede gameplay or ergonomics, enabling users to extend their gaming sessions," A Nyko rep promises.


The Power Pak is designed to add extra power while the controller's in use and has a switch to save the extra power for later if desired and it is also compatible with Nyko's Charge Base, a dock that can store and charge two PS4 controllers when not in use. You can get this right now for $19.99 at GameStop, Amazon, and other video game accessory stores.
 
$20 for batteries seem kind of expensive. I like the 360, Ouya, and Wii Mote controllers which use double AA batteries since I can buy a bunch of AA rechageable  for ten dollars or less, and keep playing as long as I have a bunch of charged AA batteries near by.

I guest it would be as cheap buying a wall mounted USB charger. But, I think having a lot of AA rechargeable batteries can be more convenient since it only takes a few seconds to change two AA batteries, and some of the better AA battery chargers made by Duracell and Energizer can charge four batteries at once in 15 minutes, and the AA batteries can be used for many hours of continuous gameplay.
