Retailer GameStop said it will honor older pre-orders for Duke Nukem Forever, even ones that were placed over a decade ago.

"With a long-anticipated release like Duke Nukem Forever, we encourage customers who pre-ordered more than a year ago to verify their reservation with their local store prior to launch," the company said in a statement. "Provided the customer has a receipt, we will honor even those pre-orders taken long ago."

GameStop said it expects that all pre-order customers will receive Duke's Big Package, the game's special edition, at time of purchase, regardless of when the reservation was made. Developer Gearbox Software recently announced the game was finally completed.

Duke Nukem Forever releases on June 14 in North America.

hate to be a person reading this who threw out their receipt.

Duke Nukem is one of the best FPS, together with Wolfenstein and I really liked both series.
I do hope that Duke Nukem Forever would not be a disappointment ;)
I haven't pre-ordered it though, so I'll have to catch it when they hit retail stores.

Yeah after all the prequel, Duke Nukem 3D, was released about 15 years ago in 1996.
I'm not sure if they will be able to keep up the standard that they have provided back then. I could assure you though, Duke Nukem was a hit for me and I loved it even though it has stirred up some controversy due to erotic content involved.

Actually, you've put a very good point down and I actually have to agree with it, repped :)

It's nice to know they will be honoring old pre-orders, it would be pretty bad if they didn't. What sucks is if anyone pre-ordered from a company that went under or got bought out, I would hope that they cover pre-orders through companies they've bought out as long as a receipt is presented for the game.

Yeah that's a good point. I'm not sure how the preordering process works, but I'm pretty sure the money is kept by whichever company the customer preordered from, and is not given to the developer of the game. So yeah that's a valid point, and I do hope they honour the preorders. Who'd knew they only came out with the sequel 15 years down the road?
