Dying Light, the upcoming free-running zombie title from Dead Island developer Techland, is no longer coming to older consoles.

I am personally not bothered by this. I would have got it on PS4 anyway and wouldn't have bothered with the previous-gen version. Seems like having the idea to launch on last-gen made them feel they had to drop things they didn't want to drop.

I wonder if Sony and MS put the squeeze on them to make it current gen only?

I don't see that as the case. I just think they couldn't fit all the features they wanted on the previous gen.
