Since its inception, there've been a large number of spin-offs and sequels in Tecmo Koei's Dynasty Warriors franchise. The latest news is that Aeria Games has made a deal to distribute Dynasty Warriors Online, a title previously only available in Japan, to North America and Europe. No specific release date is yet known, but it should be available soon as a free-to-play game.
In case you're not really familiar with Dynasty Warriors, the gameplay formula pits your playable character up against huge groups of enemies. You then attack relentlessly until everyone's dead. It's a simple formula, but one that keeps interest in the franchise and spin-offs high. How will the online version stack up? We haven't had a chance to play yet, so we can't say for sure.
Some features of this version of the game include a wide range of weapons and upgrades available to your fighters, a number of game modes including player versus player combat for 4 v 4 and 12 v 12, as well as encounters against swarming mobs of computer-controlled opponents.
