Ecchi

Ecchi is a pretty common genre these days, and for those of you who do not know: ecchi is pretty much... Fanservice/boobs for the viewers, and not much more than that. There is also some ecchi anime that is more like soft-porn than "regular" anime, although that's not as common as the massive amount of ecchi shows with a crappy story and lots of fetish appeals, a perverted main character and a lot of weird females.

There are some good ones and there are some bad ones if you ask me, as with everything. Some people like every single ecchi show by the looks of it, and others seem to hate every single one of them for various reasons.

Do you like any ecchi shows? What do you think of ecchi as a whole? Do you have any favorites?

I think ecchi is mostly what I just said above, although I don't actually mind that too much sometimes. Sometimes I just want to watch some objectification of both genders, watch some animated boobies and all that... But for the most part, I think ecchi shows are rather pointless to me.

My favorite ecchi show definitely has to be the first season of Haiyore! Nyaruko-san, the second season was really bad though, even if a lot of people seem to like that one better, I don't.
Honorable metion to NouCome to being the second best one ;)

I'm mostly into ecchi manga since I find ecchi anime pretty weak. I think the only ecchi anime series I watched, kinda, was Queens Blade. Now for ecchi manga, if we're on the subject. My favorite is Sundome followed by Kangoku Gakuen (Prison School). I like them because both are more revealing than regular ecchi but don't cross the border toward h manga.

I'll enjoy it if I can actually like the story. I think it was chu bra I had to drop because the story was just ridiculously stupid. High School DxD has a lot of fanservice but I thought the story was a bit interesting, plus there was action. Action/ecchi are always more easily dealt with than straight up comedy/ecchi. Because the comedy in ecchi series is weak, very weak. But if you get action/ecchi you at least get to watch some pretty cool scenes in between boobs. Or rather boobs in between the pretty cool scenes as I like to think of it. I hear good stuff about Highschool of the Dead, but it's about zombies so instantly on my "nope" list. Never watched an episode.  That's really the only good action/ecchi I have experience with.

The kampfer genderbent action/ecchi is a horrible anime. Terrible plot, terrible common sense, just ridiculous and nothing redeemable.

I enjoy ecchi from time to time, as a single person I got to get my perverted fix somewhere :p

I have seen some good plotlines ruined by being too ecchi.

I'm not really a fan of shows that blast fanservice and nudity in your face for titillation.  Some shows are even ruined or mediocre in my eyes, because the fanservice got in the way.  While Macademi Wasshoi! was probably not going to amount to anything beyond a harem show with magic, I thought Asobi ni Iku Yo/Cat Planet Cuties could have been better with less fanservice.  There was some potential for a really good story there.
Similarly, Strike Witches could have broken past the "moe" animation it had by presenting a good war story. But instead Studio GONZO wasted most of their time on fanservice and created a series with a bad excuse for a plotline and hardly any significant character development.
